Travel RN – CVICU / Cardiovascular Surgical ICU

Johns Hopkins Hospital | Baltimore, Maryland

Join the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU – Zayed 5 East) at Johns Hopkins Hospital, an 18-bed high-acuity unit caring for complex post-operative cardiac and transplant patients.

Assignment Details
  • Specialty: CVICU / Cardiovascular Surgical ICU
  • Shift: A/P rotation or straight nights
  • Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
  • Unit Size: 18 beds
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2
  • Orientation: 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
Required Experience

Candidates must have recent experience in a dedicated open-heart ICU receiving patients directly from the OR.

Must have current experience with:

  • Post-op cardiac surgery recovery
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • CRRT
  • Swan-Ganz catheters
  • Epicardial wires and temporary pacemakers
  • Vasoactive drip titration
  • Level 1 IABP
  • ECMO
Required
  • Active RN license
  • BLS
Preferred
  • ACLS
  • Critical Care certification
  • Trauma course
  • Epic experience
Patient Population

The CVSICU cares for patients recovering from:

  • Open-heart and complex cardiac surgery
  • Cardiac transplantation
  • Lung transplantation
  • Ventricular assist device placement
  • Other advanced cardiovascular surgical procedures
Ideal Candidate

Strong fit for an experienced CVICU/Open Heart RN comfortable managing highly complex post-operative cardiac patients, advanced hemodynamics, mechanical circulatory support, and 1:1 critical care.
