08/10The Information Systems Division of Provo City Corporation is looking for a skilled full-time Public Works Systems Analyst to join their team. The successful applicant must be a team player that is motivated by a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What is the compensation package?

Pay Rate: (G34) 38.38 - $56.97 per hour (depending on experience)

What are the main duties?

  • Provide primary technology support for Provo City's Public Works Department, supporting Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Sanitation, Fleet Maintenance, Streets, and Engineering operations, while serving as a backup technology support resource for the Airport Department.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on Public Works systems technology with a strong drive to assist the organization with evaluation and selection of new technology and processes that can improve operations and customer service levels.

  • Provide hands-on systems administration, implementation, data analytics, security, integrations, and support services for enterprise systems including, but not limited to Water Sources, Wastewater, SCADA, AMI/AMR, work management, surveillance systems, and audio-visual systems.

  • Provide rapid response and resolution support for critical Public Works technology systems, including participation in on-call coverage and after-hours callouts for urgent outages, operational incidents, or service disruptions.

  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines.

  • Plan, direct, and participate in the business analysis, design, programming, implementation, securing, testing, and maintenance of Information Systems for Provo City Public Works and Airport operations.

  • Perform industry and competitive analysis while continually keeping current on technology trends.

  • Analyze and clarify user requirements while promoting information technology initiatives.

  • Create documentation / instructions and establish guidelines / procedures to perform the functions of the job.

  • Stay up to date with information technology field concepts, best practices, and procedures.

  • Perform system configuration and backup operations including verification and documentation.

  • Monitor and enforce required policies and procedures.

  • Assist other staff as needed and perform other duties as required.

What are the minimum requirements?

Provo will honor an equivalent combination of job-related education/experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer information technology or related field.

  • Two (2) years of experience in computer information systems maintaining system integrations and supporting enterprise systems.

  • Valid, lawful Driver License. (Applicants may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.)

What are the preferred qualifications?

  • Public Works or Airport system administration experience.

  • Experience with SCADA systems.

  • Two (2) years of high-level business application systems administration experience.

  • Experience with project management methodologies.

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on August 11, 2026. Applicants mustmeet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
