Job description

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is the market leader in single-ply commercial roofing systems, delivering innovative products that protect the buildings where people work, learn, heal, and live. We're seeking an experienced R&D Manager - EPDM Membranes to lead the technical strategy and innovation roadmap for our industry-leading product portfolio.

In this high-impact leadership role, you'll oversee a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and process engineers responsible for advancing EPDM membrane technology from concept through commercial launch. You'll drive product innovation, manage the R&D portfolio, establish technical priorities, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Product Management, Marketing, Quality, and Business Leadership to translate scientific breakthroughs into market-leading solutions.

You'll lead the development of next-generation EPDM formulations, optimize manufacturing processes, guide pilot and plant-scale commercialization efforts, and ensure products meet the highest standards for quality, durability, and code compliance. This role also provides the opportunity to represent Carlisle within industry organizations, influence technical standards, and build strategic partnerships with suppliers, universities, and external laboratories.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's, Ph.D., or MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive R&D experience in polymer formulation, membrane science, or process engineering, preferably with EPDM or related elastomer technologies
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, managing innovation portfolios, and commercializing new products
  • Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, EPDM processing, laboratory characterization techniques, and industry testing standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
