Job description

Job Summary
The HSE Intern I is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environmental programs and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position supports field activities, conducts inspections, and promotes a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and participate in daily, weekly, and monthly HSE inspections and audits.
  • Assist with incident investigations, including documentation and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Conduct safety orientations and training sessions for new hires and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety metrics, inspections, training, and incidents.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with PPE, safety policies, and job site rules.
  • Participate in risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
  • Support the development and implementation of HSE procedures and policies.
  • Help ensure environmental compliance related to waste handling, spill response, and air/water discharges.
  • Communicate safety alerts and updates to teams in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and response efforts.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of relevant HSE experience in a construction, manufacturing, energy, or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to travel to job sites as needed.
