Job description

Position Title: Production Supervisor                       Department: Assembly

Classification: Exempt, Direct                                  Approved By: Human Resources

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Position Reports To: Director of Manufacturing Operations

JOB SUMMARY

Oversight of the manufacturing lines and assembly employees at the EOTECH HQ plant. Coach and mentor employees, ensuring adherence to work rules and standard procedures.  Ownership of material flow, physical material tracking and systematic transactions of assigned areas.  Emphasis on continuous improvement and optimization of the assembly areas and assembly related processes / procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Act as mentor and coach to assembly staff
  • Coach, empower, and support production team leaders to assist with staff management
  • Own the assembly line procedures and processes, coaching and enforcing expectations based on EOTECH work rules and standard operating procedures
  • Establish and maintain procedures to ensure high standard of manufacturing operations, product quality, reliability, and safety - adhering to EOTECH’s ISO 9001 standards
  • Responsible to meet daily production rates tied to financial requirements of the company, responsible for the throughput of the Plymouth factory in a dynamic environment
  • Ensure the manufacturing department has necessary manpower, equipment, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform their job tasks
  • Interviewing and hiring of assembly staff
  • Time management and approval authority of assembly staff
  • Manage projects and request capital expenditure activity to improve the assembly areas
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment.  Follow, enforce and support 6S principles
  • Responsible for tracking and flow of materials through the manufacturing and quality assurance processes, including ownership of WIP (lineside), post manufacturing testing locations (qual-testing) and transaction activity/accuracy thereof
  • Resolve performance/disciplinary issues with employees in coordination with Human Resources
  • Optimize and manage computer related systems related to the EOTECH manufacturing operation
  • Communicate to plant leadership on regular basis
  • All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY

  • Supervising a team of 1-5 production team leaders
  • Supervising team of hourly assembly and quality inspector employees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field of study

EXPERIENCE

  • At least two years’ previous supervision experience managing a team of hourly workers

BACKGROUND PREREQUISITIES

  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification and reference checks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles
