JOB TITLE:                            Sr. TSF Construction Supervisor                                  DEPARTMENT:                    Process TSF OperationsLOCATION:                          Robinson Mine - Ruth, NVPAY GRADE:                         7POSITION REPORTS TO:  Mill Superintendent ROTATING SHIFT:              No EXEMPT               

Purpose & Scope of The Position: 

Sr. TSF Construction Supervisor will provide guidance and counsel for the expansion construction activities at the Giroux Wash Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), owned and operated by Robinson Nevada Mining Company (Robinson). The Sr. TSF Construction Supervisor will act as Robinson's internal project manager and will coordinate and supervise TSF overall construction, ensuring on-time completion within established budgets. The primary responsibilities for oversight and coordination will be related to TSF expansion construction and supervision of the TSF construction supervisor/s. Typically including placement of about 1.5-2.0 million cubic yards of compacted alluvium around the TSF perimeter.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain a detailed project schedule, cost including weekly updates.
  • Review project plans and specifications and comment on the constructability of the design, project scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
  • Track daily construction material being placed for daily, weekly and project tracking (e.g. total fill per embankment section and borrow source).
  • Track construction equipment being used daily and manage costs to budgeted expectations.
  • Monitor daily equipment and production reports.
  • Provide weekly production reports to the Process department Superintendent.
  • Oversees TSF Construction Supervisor/s and day crews.
  • Oversee all aspects of the project and coordinates with the Mill Superintendent.
  • Communicate effectively with design team/client as well as effectively lead different trades.
  • Participate in construction planning for subsequent year with EOR consultant for budgeting and cost estimating.
  • Attend annual planning and update meeting with EOR/Owner.
  • Complete regular updates with EOR consultant on current tasks, possible issues, material totals and changes to the design.
  •  Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHMI.

Required Education, Work Experience & Training:

  • Intermediate knowledge of the principles and practices of earth works construction.
  • Understanding of project management, construction management, or similar discipline.
  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience and general understanding of multidiscipline mining projects.
  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience in industrial and infrastructure project management.
  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience in collaborating with multidiscipline groups to develop comprehensive scope of work and execution of the scope of work.
  • Two to five (2-5) years' experience in maintaining and scheduling.
  • Raise and discuss relevant daily issues with EOR consultant, contractors and Mill Superintendent.
  • Inform the EOR consultant and Mill Superintendent of any discrepancies or omissions contained within the consultant's design drawings.
  • Enforce site safety and ensure that MSHA requirements are met and enforced as they pertain to the construction project.
  • A valid Driver's License.

Preferred Education, Work Experience & Training:

  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience in supervising the total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule and is staffed appropriately.  
  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience in construction management and/or craft supervision in a similar field of construction. Earth works experience a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Project management skilled in large/complex earth works projects through the project phases of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controls and closing.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Monitor site safety and ensure that MSHA requirements are met and enforced as they pertain to the construction project.
  • Ensure completion of all independent CQA testing and inspections as required.
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and CQA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Scheduling software.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
  • Trains staff in safety procedures.
  • Maintains time, materials, and equipment use reports.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to meet the required physical demands, including exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds of force constantly.
