Bilingual EOIR Paralegal

Position Summary
The EOIR Paralegal provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to attorneys representing clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), including Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). The paralegal manages a high-volume caseload and is responsible for coordinating case preparation, client communication, document management, hearing preparation, filing submissions, and ensuring compliance with court deadlines and firm procedures.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Manage a high-volume EOIR caseload from assignment through case completion.
  • Prepare and file immigration court applications, motions, briefs, appeals, supplemental evidence, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist attorneys with removal defense matters, including asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, waivers, motions to reopen/reconsider, and BIA appeals.
  • Draft legal correspondence, declarations, affidavits, procedural motions, and other case-related documents for attorney review.
  • Review case files, court notices, scheduling orders, and other correspondence to ensure timely case progression.
  • Coordinate case strategy preparation with attorneys and assist in preparing clients for upcoming hearings.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case updates, document requests, hearing preparation, and filing requirements.
  • Organize, review, and maintain supporting evidence and client records throughout the life of the case.
  • File documents through EOIR ECAS and maintain accurate electronic case records.
  • Monitor immigration court calendars, filing deadlines, and post-hearing case activity.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure efficient case management and compliance with court procedures.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • 1-3 years of immigration law experience preferred
  • Experience with EOIR proceedings and EOIR ECAS strongly preferred
  • Experience preparing removal defense filings and supporting documentation
  • Strong organizational, communication, and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with case management software preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of U.S. immigration laws, EOIR procedures, and immigration court practice
  • Strong legal drafting and document management skills
