Position: Electrical Engineer - RF Designer

Location: Auburn, AL

Job Type: Full-time

Job Description: IS4S is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Electrical Engineer with expertise in high-speed, embedded, and RF electronics for military projects. An immediate area of focus will is open architectures of SOSA VNX+ Software-Defined Radio systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of advanced hardware systems, contributing to the success of mission-critical applications.

Applicants must clearly state citizenship and any active clearance in a cover letter or on the resume.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop RF, embedded, and high-speed electronics for sensing, communication, and other equipment.

2. Conduct feasibility studies, analysis, and simulation for new hardware designs, ensuring compliance with military standards and requirements.

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.

4. Generate detailed hardware specifications, schematics, and PCB layouts for advanced hardware boards.

5. Perform prototype testing, troubleshooting, and validation of RF and power electronics systems.

6. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  2. Proficiency in relevant tools and software for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation (e.g., Altium, Cadence, SPICE).
  3. Experience with testing and validation of hardware systems, including thermal and environmental testing.
  4. Familiarity with military standards and specifications related to hardware design.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  6. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  7. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience with wireless design and basic principles of RF and antenna theory.

2. Understanding of electronics thermal management

3. Experience with software-defined radios (SDR) and frameworks, such as GNU radio

4. Coding skills with VHDL and C/C++

5. Design and analysis experience using industry standard tools (COMSOL, ANSYS, Matlab, Python, etc).
