Sales, Marketing, and Business Development | Woodbridge, Connecticut About Us

Aquatek Labs has been analyzing water and radon for Connecticut and the surrounding region for roughly 40 years. We are a state-certified environmental testing laboratory licensed in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York, and we work with home inspection firms, water treatment companies, and public water supplies across all four states. We are a small, established, independently owned lab. Decisions get made quickly, and the person in this role will have a direct hand in shaping how we grow.

The Opportunity

We are looking for someone who understands both the science and the sale.

Our customers are technical buyers. A public water supply operator asking about compliance sampling, a water treatment dealer interpreting a panel of results, an inspector who needs turnaround times to fit a closing date, all of them are evaluating whether the person across the table actually knows what they are talking about. Product knowledge here is not a training module. It is groundwater and drinking water quality, environmental regulations, contaminant behavior, and an understanding of what the numbers mean for the property or system being tested. If you have an environmental science background and have discovered you would rather be in front of customers than in the field or the lab, this is the role that uses both.

What You Will Do
  • Outside Sales and Account Development: Own the relationship with new and prospective clients across our four-state service area. This is a travel role. You will be at customer sites, at inspector association meetings, and at trade shows, not behind a desk making cold calls.
  • Business Development: Identify and open new market segments beyond our current client base. We have a strong position in home inspection, water treatment, and municipal water. We believe there is meaningful room in adjacent sectors, and we want someone with the judgment to figure out which ones and the initiative to go get them.
  • Marketing and Advertising: Own our marketing program end to end: print advertising, digital advertising, and social media. You will decide where our marketing dollars go and be accountable for whether they work. This is not a role where you inherit a plan from a corporate team.
What We Are Looking For
  • Education: A bachelorโ€™s degree, BA or BS, is required. If your degree is in business, we want to see science in your work history. If your degree is in environmental science, geology, biology, chemistry, or a related field, we want to see sales or marketing in your work history. Either path works well here.
  • Experience: Five to ten years in a combination of technical sales, business development, or marketing, including B2B selling experience. Candidates whose background is entirely sales without technical grounding, or entirely technical without customer-facing experience, are not a fit for this position. Prior experience in the water industry is strongly preferred.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Comfortable discussing analytical results, sampling protocols, and regulatory requirements with technical buyers
    • Track record of opening new accounts in a B2B environment, not just servicing existing ones
    • Able to plan and execute a marketing program independently
    • Willing to travel throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island
    • Valid driverโ€™s license
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary of $75,000 to $95,000 depending on experience, plus uncapped commission on all new business. There is no ceiling on what you can earn. The more new business you bring in, the more you make.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid sick time
  • Company phone and laptop provided
  • Mileage and travel expense reimbursement
  • Direct access to ownership and real influence over company direction

Aquatek Labs, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
