Job description

Environmental Project Manager, Richardson, TX
Halff has an immediate opening for an Environmental Project Manager in our Richardson office. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented professional with a strong technical foundation and a passion for leading impactful environmental projects.
This role is ideal for an environmental scientist, geologist, or geoscientist with a proven track record in environmental consulting and regulatory compliance. You'll play a key leadership role within a highly collaborative team, working closely with clients, technical staff, and leadership to deliver complex projects from start to finish.

What you will do:
  • Provide technical leadership on a variety of environmental projects
  • Manage and oversee small- and large-scale field investigations and assessments
  • Review and interpret data to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Lead the preparation and review of reports, including:
    • Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments
    • Remedial Investigations
    • Affected Property Assessments
  • Prepare and submit documentation for regulatory programs (TCEQ, TRRP, RCRA, CERCLA, etc.)
  • Evaluate and validate laboratory analytical data in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Develop clear, concise technical reports including findings, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Coordinate and support field activities (utility locating, geophysical surveys, drilling, excavation)
  • Manage subcontractors and field crews
  • Serve as a primary client contact, supporting scope development and deliverables
  • Oversee project execution, budgets, and schedules
  • Mentor and support junior staff
  • Support business development efforts and help win new work
  • Travel as needed to support project requirements

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects under regulatory programs such as:
    • TRRP
    • CERCLA
    • RCRA
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with field sampling techniques, documentation, and equipment
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information (written and verbal)
  • Proven ability to collaborate with clients, teams, and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel; valid driver's license required
  • Ability to pass background checks for federal facility access
  • Willingness to obtain certifications and participate in ongoing training
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical (for fieldwork readiness)
  • Available and prepared to work onsite at the Richardson office, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies such as:
    • S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
    • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
    • Railroad Commission of Texas
    • Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ)
    • Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ)
    • Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC)
  • GIS experience
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Professional Geologist License
