Environmental Compliance Manager
The primary purpose of this position is to manage environmental compliance and provide technical support to all company functions regarding applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Applicable areas of regulatory compliance include the Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), and the Clean Air Act (CAA).
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state and local environmental regulations.
  • Integrate regulatory compliance management into Hydrite's business and operating systems through applicable standard operating procedure (SOP) development and management, regulatory compliance guidance and corporate and branch-specific communication.
  • Review proposed environmental legislation to assess applicability to Hydrite operations.
  • Provide environmental regulatory guidance and support for all capital projects and company acquisitions.
  • Provide technical assistance in the event of a chemical release or exposure at one of our branches or at a customer location.
  • Provide environmental monitoring and remediation project guidance, support and management.
  • Effectively manage the environmental compliance team (three employees).
  • Develop waste minimization and cost-saving strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce risk.
  • Provide corrective action alternatives for the management of areas/activities known to present a potential for non-compliance, injury, or environmental contamination.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS
  • Monitor and coordinate spill reporting activities at Hydrite facilities including maintenance of Hydrite's third party 24-hour emergency response services.
  • Improve environmental compliance awareness and training program.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
  • This position reports to the Director of Safety and Environmental Compliance
  • This position manages a team of 3 employees responsible for environmental compliance

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Minimum of 6 years in an industrial or regulatory agency setting in the performance of environmental compliance duties. Experience in the chemical industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience
  • Strong regulatory interpretation and compliance management skills.
  • Experience managing air permit compliance requirements preferred
  • Experience managing a Large Quantity Generator and/or a RCRA Part B permit, preferred
  • Groundwater remediation experience is preferred.
  • Current RCRA and DOT HAZMAT certification is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in engineering, chemistry, or environmental science is preferred.
  • Post graduate degree and/or continuing education courses sufficient to develop comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulatory compliance strategies, preferred.
  • Up to 25% of travel to Hydrite facilities.
