Home Forward is seeking four (4) part-time Emergency Preparedness Outreach Intern to support Home Forward's emergency preparedness and community safety initiatives by engaging residents through outreach events and workshops, promoting disaster awareness, and collecting feedback.
Interns will act as trusted messengers to relay emergency preparedness information to Home Forward communities. This internship program provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and make meaningful contribution to community safety and emergency preparedness in affordable housing. Interns will leave the program equipped with skills to address real-world challenges and create lasting, positive impacts in their future careers.
This position is scheduled to close on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. We reserve the right to close the posting early should it reach a certain number of applicants. This is a part-time internship at 16 hours per week and compensation will be at $25.96 per hour

Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomical backgrounds.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail. Ability to collect, analyze, and document information accurately and maintain confidentiality. Ability to facilitate workshops, presentations, and group discussions in a clear, engaging and culturally responsive manner.
Ability to accurately read, record, and interpret information using computerized and paper systems. Proficiency in computer applications and office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Exemplify traits that reflect Home Forward's mission, organizational values, and racial equity statement, including trustworthiness, integrity, and openness to change. Education & Experience Guidelines Current student or recent graduate (within one calendar year of graduation) of attending an undergraduate or graduate program focused on emergency management, environmental science, social work, or related field) Interest in Emergency Preparedness, Affordable Housing, Social Justice, Safety and Equity.
Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills. Experience or coursework in Environmental Science, Community Engagement, or Project Management is a plus. Fluency in any of the following languages is a plus: Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.
