Responsibilities:

GIS Intern is responsible for assistance in design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS data for our public/private/federal clients. Candidates must be knowledgeable with ESRI's software products - Arc Pro, Arc Online, Field Maps, Survey 123, etc. Duties include performing simple data analysis and creation of various maps for incorporation into reports and/or presentations.
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty successfully.  These duties include:
    Working with various project teams to support a variety of municipal, state, federal, and commercial projects.
    Being responsible for report assistance, presentations, and mapping for a variety of environmental, utility, and water resources projects.
    Develop GIS projects consisting of vector, raster, and tabular data.
    Effectively communicate and coordinate with supervisor, other project team members and disciplines. 
    Maintain, troubleshoot, and deploy mobile GIS and Lidar solutions as part of project team.
    Conduct research to locate and obtain existing databases and data. 
    Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS. 
    Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps. 
    Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports. 
    Enter new map data through use of a digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales. 
    Analyze geographic relationships among varying types of data. 
    Move, copy, delete, and add files, drawings, and maps to output reports in hard copy or electronic transfer. 
    Retrieve stored maps, data, and databases.
    Other duties may be assigned and may include periodic field work.

 Qualifications:

    Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to pass a background check due to the projects the candidate will be working on.
    Must be in senior year of college completing a bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Information Systems or a related field. 

  • Local Candidates will be given priority.
        Associates degree or GIS Certificate is a plus.
        No experience required.
        Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 25%.
        Valid state driver license in good standing.
     
  • Background Check: Candidate must pass a background check required to work in a CUI Enclave Environment.
  • Physical Demands: The candidate must be able to meet the following physical demands.
        Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
        Must be able to stand or be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Work Environment: The work environment will be both office and field work.  Field work may require travel up to 14 days or more. Field work may be in any climate and weather conditions.
  • Language & Communication Skills: Strong communication skills required. English is required for all communication - spoken and written.  Other languages is a plus
  • Other Skills: Instructions: Basic computer skills are required. Must have solid knowledge of Arc Pro, Arc Online, Field Maps, and Survey 123. Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
