Position Overview:

The Risk Management Analyst supports the identification, assessment, and communication of discrete and overall program and project risk across cost, schedule, and performance dimensions within a government contracting environment. This role coordinates with program team members to gather and validate risk data, identifies areas of exposure, and produces narrative, graphic, and oral status reports that inform decision-making by program leadership and government clients. The Risk Management Analyst contributes to the development and maintenance of risk frameworks and registers that enable proactive risk mitigation and program resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review risk management data to identify discrete risk areas and assess overall program and project risk across cost, schedule, and performance dimensions.
  • Coordinate with program team members to gather, validate, and analyze risk data and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain risk registers, risk matrices, and risk tracking tools for program and project-level use.
  • Identify emerging risk areas and escalate significant risks with recommended mitigation strategies to program leadership.
  • Create narrative, graphic, and oral status reports communicating risk identification, assessment, and mitigation status to internal and government client audiences.
  • Support development and implementation of risk mitigation and contingency plans in coordination with program managers and stakeholders.
  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative risk assessments using established risk management frameworks and methodologies.
  • Monitor and track the status of identified risks and mitigation actions across the program lifecycle.
  • Contribute to lessons-learned activities and continuous improvement of risk management processes.
  • Prepare and deliver risk briefings, formal reports, and presentations for government clients and senior program leadership.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, program analysis, or a related discipline supporting government programs or complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing risk management data and assessing program or project risk across cost, schedule, and performance dimensions.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining risk registers, risk matrices, and related risk tracking documentation.
  • Experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary program teams to gather and validate risk data.
  • Ability to identify risk areas and develop narrative, graphic, and oral risk status reports for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and methodologies (e.g., PMBOK risk management processes or similar).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and risk tracking or project management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience producing formal reports and delivering briefings to executive-level stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the Veterans Health Administration or a similar federal health agency (CDC, CMS, DHA, HHS, etc.).
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification with demonstrated risk management experience and/or PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certification.
  • Familiarity with VA risk management policies, VA PMAS (Project Management Accountability System), or related VA governance frameworks.
  • Experience with Agile or SAFe risk management practices in a government contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of federal Earned Value Management (EVM) requirements and integration with risk reporting.
  • Experience with risk management software tools (e.g., Active Risk Manager, Risktrak, or similar enterprise risk platforms).
