Job description

Broker III, Environmental Services Group

This role is a hybrid role working from one of our Northeast office locations.

What the day will look like

  • Identify, analyze, and advise clients regarding environmental liability exposures and risk transfer strategies.
  • Structure and negotiate environmental insurance programs, including Pollution Legal Liability (PLL), Contractor's Pollution Liability (CPL), Storage Tank Liability, Cost Cap, Combined Forms environmental casualty products, and transaction-related environmental products.
  • Lead the marketing of new and renewal business opportunities with environmental insurance carriers.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with environmental underwriters and carrier partners.
  • Prepare, review, and finalize underwriting submissions and marketing materials.
  • Advise clients on coverage options, terms and conditions, retention structures, and pricing alternatives.
  • Manage complex environmental placements from initial strategy through binding and policy issuance.
  • Work collaboratively with account executives, producers, servicing teams, and other specialty practices to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling Aon capabilities and environmental risk products.
  • Support client retention and revenue growth initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior brokers and colleagues within the Environmental Services Group.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise regarding environmental regulations, emerging liabilities, insurer appetite, and marketplace trends.
  • Ensure compliance with Aon operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, client presentations, and industry events.

Client Management

  • Build, expand, and maintain relationships with clients at senior management and risk management levels.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on environmental risk and insurance matters.
  • Deliver consultative recommendations that align with clients' operational, transactional, and strategic objectives.
  • Promote the value of Aon's environmental expertise through service, consultation, benchmarking, and reporting.

Business Development

  • Identify new environmental insurance opportunities and facilitate profitable growth.
  • Assist producers and relationship managers in originating new business.
  • Develop innovative solutions for environmental and transactional risk challenges.
  • Participate in client and prospect meetings, stewardship presentations, and market-facing initiatives.

How this opportunity is different

As part of Broker III, Environmental Services Group, you'll advise sophisticated clients on environmental liability exposures, structure innovative risk transfer solutions, and negotiate directly with leading environmental insurance markets. Unlike many brokerage roles that focus only on placement tasks, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior client partners. You will work with leading specialists in Aon's risk, transactional, property development, asset management, and private equity teams. You will also have a visible role in business development, thought leadership, and guiding future brokers.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 5+ years of Insurance brokerage experience, preferably in environmental, casualty, construction, real estate, private equity, or transactional risk fields.
  • Active Property & Casualty broker/producer license or ability to obtain.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental liability insurance products and marketplace dynamics.
  • Proven experience negotiating and placing complex insurance programs.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to mentor team members and work effectively across multiple partner groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and brokerage technology platforms.

Preferred Experience

  • Environmental consulting, underwriting, legal, engineering, or risk management background.
  • Experience serving real estate, infrastructure, energy, industrial, manufacturing, private equity, and M&A clients.
  • Demonstrated success managing large and complex environmental insurance placements.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $165,000 - $195,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. Save

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of New York. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
