Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Role Overview

We have a career opportunity for an Associate Level NEPA / Environmental Specialist to join our Nevada Operations reporting to the Denver office.  Will work in the Reno office or remotely with some travel (20%) to field for project and business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will gather environmental data, perform technical analysis, and prepare environmental documents in support of a NEPA determination and related environmental approvals and permits for a variety of projects.
  • Use Federal laws including NEPA, Executive Orders, regulations, policies, procedures, notices, advisory material and other technical materials to give advice, prepare permit applications and obtain permits.
  • Assist in the development of proposal and cost estimates
  • Will work collaboratively with various project teams and a variety of clients in the public and private sectors and will handle concurrent assignments.
  • Performs business development and marketing activities to capture new clients for Wood and maintain existing clients
  • Assist in building the Natural Resources Group and mentor junior staff to develop technical capabilities and skillsets.
  • Act as a technical resource for the Denver Environmental Branch and Mountain and Central Regions
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's and Master's degree in environmental science or similar.
  • 10 years + experience working with NEPA.
  • Project management experience
  • Strong writing skills required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills.
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
  • Strong background providing environmental consulting services to clients in the mining, industrial/commercial, energy and government sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a team leader and promote team objectives

Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in NEPA compliance
  • Expertise with the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Experience with the mining industry in Nevada and west region
  • Experience working on local, state, and federal projects. Must have the capability to prepare proposals for internal and external clients.
  • Experience with Federal and State agencies, and other stakeholders
