Business Development Representative - Agency & Merchant Outreach

CWILL

Cary, NC โ€ข Remote

Job description

About US:

CWILL (pronounced "quill") is a post-purchase and retention suite built for Shopify & DTC brands. Reduce support tickets, recover lost revenue from returns, and turn one-time buyers into loyal fans — with tools purpose-built for every touchpoint after the sale.

The Role

We're building out our agency partner channel and growing our merchant pipeline, and we need someone whose whole job is getting us in front of the right people. Today our Customer Success and Sales leads are splitting their time between closing deals and doing cold outreach — this role takes the outreach off their plate and does it better.

You'll own top-of-funnel across both audiences: Shopify agencies and ecommerce consultancies on one side, and merchant prospects on the other. At our current stage one person owns both motions; as volume grows we'll split them into dedicated tracks.

What You'll Do

Customer/Business Owner Outreach:

  • Own outbound prospecting across both audiences — agencies and merchants — building target lists and running multi-channel sequences (email, LinkedIn, phone)
  • Research and qualify prospects against our ICP before reaching out — we'd rather have 20 good conversations than 200 bad ones
  • Adapt your approach per audience: agency conversations are about their business model and margin; merchant conversations are about their post-purchase and retention problems
  • Keep every touch logged in CRM so the team always knows where each account stands
  • Report on what's working — messaging, channels, segments — and adjust
  • Hand off qualified opportunities cleanly to Sales and Partnerships

Channel & Agency Development

• Build and grow CWILL's agency partner program, targeting eCommerce agencies and service providers that work with Shopify DTC brands

• Develop and execute a channel strategy to expand CWILL's reach through referral partners, resellers, and ecosystem players

• Own end-to-end event strategy — from trade show selection and booth planning to on-site execution and post-event follow-up

• Manage the full partner lifecycle: prospecting, onboarding, activation, and ongoing enablement

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• 2–3+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or channel sales — preferably within eCommerce, SaaS, or logistics

• Strong understanding of the Shopify / DTC brand ecosystem and how agencies and service providers operate within it

• Proven track record of building and closing partnership deals, with experience managing multi-stakeholder relationships

• Hands-on experience with trade shows and industry events — you know how to work a room and convert conversations into pipeline

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving environment

• Background in logistics, shipping, or carrier partnerships is a strong plus

• Bachelor's degree or above

Benefits

Starting Pay: 80-100K + Bonus, depends on experiences, open to negotiation
