Position Description:
Redhorse corporation is seeking an Environmental Outreach Program Coordinator to work on task with the U.S. Fleet Forces (USFF). The USFF is responsible for coordinating, establishing, and implementing integrated requirements and policies for manning, equipping, and training Atlantic and Pacific Fleet units, strike groups, and strike forces. This role will provide comprehensive operational and environmental support for Fleet training range complexes and operations while meeting OFRP requirements and adhering to governmental environment laws, acts, statutes, and policies.
Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Support government officials as the primary environmental outreach interface between the fleets, the Navy Chief of Information (CHINFO), and USN range complexes and USN regional commands on environmental outreach, engagement, public affairs, community relations, and other issues pertaining to effective communications of the USN environmental program.
  • Provide analytical support and coordinate, develop and disseminate short and long range communications and marketing plans on USN environmental stewardship as embodied in all levels of USN training, to include project participation with regards to outreach subject areas; relevant document and materials development and review, as required; and review and monitoring of relevant documents and materials prepared by various contractors for the range complexes, culminating in recommendations to USN leadership.
  • Interface with USFF Public Affairs and legal counsel and project teams to revise outreach and communications plans. The position shall identify, analyze and articulate outreach and communications implications of legal/regulatory requirements resulting from new/proposed legislation and regulations, and impacts from new litigation results and provide recommendations to USN leadership for outreach and communication program changes.
  • Transport equipment and materials to various DoD, Navy, and public events each year in support of the Outreach program to effectively communicate the Navyโ€™s environmental stewardship objectives.
  • Other duties as designated in support of environmental training operations.
Requirements for Experience, Skills, Education and Credentials include:
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in marketing, public affairs, and/or event planning.
  • Experience in plans, policy, risk/crisis communications, community relations, media, engagement, outreach, writing, editing, and/or legislative affairs.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment with a completed end product.
  • Experience articulately communicating complex concepts including supporting, researching, preparing, and conducting briefs and presentations.
  • Experience identifying, analyzing, and articulating implications of new or proposed legislation and litigation.
  • Knowledge of primary environmental laws, regulations, statutes, and DoN and DoD policies applicable to USN training activities, (e.g., NEPA, ESA, MMPA, CZMA, EO 12114, MSFCMA).
  • BA/BS degree in marketing, communication, journalism, computer science, or related field.
  • An active Secret clearance is required.
