Job description

IMPORTANT NOTICE – INCUMBENT-ONLY POSITION
This position is only open to current employees supporting the FOMSS II Contract. Applications from individuals who are not currently incumbents on this contract will not be considered.



Purpose and Scope:


Supervises hazardous waste operations and maintains the Installation Hazardous Waste Management Program.


Essential Responsibilities:


1) Oversee environmental operations for assigned worksite.

2) Conduct audits and inspections of hazardous waste generator points and of treatment, storage and disposal facilities.

3) Prepare and maintain all records, reports and associated documentation necessary to comply with Federal, State and local environmental requirements.

4) Conduct reclamation, recycling and reuse operations for assigned program.

5) Provide technical assistance to all installation waste generating facilities and conducts training for designated waste managers.

6) Establish, organize and train the company Spill Response Teams and serves as incident Commander as necessary.

7) Monitor the NPDES and Storm Water programs for the installation and conducts monitoring and sampling in support of environmental permits.

8) Operate and provide limited maintenance for the Industrial Wastewater Treatment Facility, water deionization plant (idle), and the Ground Water Treatment Facility.

9) Direct chemical treatment service for chilled and hot water systems.

10) Analyze and resolve work-related issues and assists Environmental Specialists in the identification and resolution of problems.

11) Ensure that productivity, schedule and contract commitments are being achieved and Company policy and safety requirements are in compliance.

12) Monitor sick leave, emergency leave and leave without pay for all employees under his/her supervision.


Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.


Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:


College degree (BA/BS) in physical or biological sciences or ten (10) years demonstrated proficiency in managing environmental operations for large operations and maintenance or manufacturing companies. Six (6) years experience in Environmental Management, including two (2) years of supervisory level experience. Non-Degreed - Ten (10) years. Degreed - Six (6) years. The ability to read, write and interpret technical data and working knowledge of the inspection, repair and testing of the environmental system components of aircraft and associated engines is required. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.


Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:


Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
