NMC is currently recruiting an Environmental Services Technician in the Environmental Services department. This will be full-time (80 hours bi-weekly); primarily evenings 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm including every other weekend.

Environmental Services Tech
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for cleaning of patient rooms, clinical and public areas of the medical center; cleans and disinfects all environmental surfaces within the hospital, supports the linen service, collects and transports waste within the hospital using proper handling and disposal techniques.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior Experience: Institutional cleaning experience preferred.
Skills: Ability to read, write and understand English required.

SCOPE:
Machinery or Equipment Used:
Industrial cleaning equipment: vacuum cleaner, mop, broom/dustpan, linen cart, trash barrel on barrel roller, trash compactor, washing machine
Physical Demands:
Energy requirements for frequent mopping, pushing/pulling, lifting, etc. Occasional: kneeling, squatting, overhead reaching and lifting up to35 lbs. Frequent: reaching, bending, and pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying up to 14 lbs.
Working Conditions:
Potential for spills of cleaning agents, mop buckets, etc. and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens when cleaning
Required Protective Equipment:
Mask, booties, gloves, hairnet, gown and goggles
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Performs cleaning, handling of waste, disposal and material handling using safe work practices and following policies and procedures for each task
    • Reviews work completed to verify the correct steps have been completed

• Performs all tasks in a safe manner using safe work practices
    • Wears appropriate PPE for all tasks
    • Follows directions when mixing chemicals
    • Uses appropriate equipment for the task
    • Uses proper body mechanics
