Job description

Position Purpose

The Environment & Energy Manager leads environmental compliance and drives operational environmental performance across Lindt & Sprüngli USA. The role serves as the site subject matter expert for environmental regulatory requirements and leads initiatives to reduce environmental impact.

Key focus areas include Scope1 and Scope2 energy performance improvement, waste reduction initiatives, strengthening environmental management systems, and supporting ISO14001 and ISO50001 readiness. The manager partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, and cross‑functional teams to embed sustainable, data‑driven improvements into daily operations.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Environmental Compliance & Governance – Ensure full compliance with all environmental permits and regulatory requirements (air, water, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste). Serve as company representative during inspections, audits, and inquiries; establish and maintain self‑assessment programs; interpret local, state, federal, and corporate standards; maintain documentation systems for audit readiness.
  • Energy Management & Scope1/2 Reduction – Identify, evaluate, and implement energy reduction opportunities across site operations, utilities, and infrastructure. Prioritize opportunities using data‑driven methods; drive waste reduction (landfill diversion, recycling, process optimization); develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, & reporting tools; support best‑practice implementation to improve environmental impact and operational efficiency.
  • Environment Performance & Continuous Improvement – Lead the Environment Pillar, managing energy, water, waste performance. Maintain accurate environmental data; identify improvement opportunities; drive waste reduction initiatives; develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, & reporting tools; support best‑practice implementation.
  • Environment Management Systems & ISO Readiness – Define, implement, and continuously improve system elements aligned with ISO14001; support energy‑management practices aligned with ISO50001; integrate environmental requirements into site processes; standardize, document, & continuously improve environmental processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Skills & Knowledge – Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations; experience managing permits and compliance programs; proven track record with energy‑efficiency and performance improvement initiatives; experience with energy monitoring, utility data analysis; practical understanding of Scope1 and Scope2 emissions reduction; strong analytical skills; excellent communication & influence skills; high level of ownership and continuous‑improvement mindset.
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field required. Three to seven+ years of relevant experience. Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Management, Environmental Management, or closely related discipline strongly preferred (or equivalent advanced education/experience).
  • Total Rewards – Compensation range: $108000–135000. Compensation determined by skills, knowledge, experience, and market conditions. Bonus and/or long‑term incentive may be included.
