EH&S Senior Manager Environmental What you will do

Let's do this! Let's change the world! In this vital role, you will provide world class EHS Environmental Management leadership and client support across Amgen's growing network. This role will work with an empowered team to lead global environmental compliance management programs and support the development of innovative and compliant solutions.

The successful candidate will:
  • Support Amgen's expanding business by assuring innovative, compliant, and efficient facility design, execution, and operational readiness.
  • Actively participate in Capital Project Environmental assessments and design process.
  • Apply a "Plan, Do, Check, Act" digital management systems approach to monitor and continually improve environmental program network performance.
  • Serve as a global program manager and subject matter expert in designated environmental programs including air quality, regulated waste management, hazardous material transportation, with an emphasis on wastewater compliance management.
  • Apply your environmental compliance expertise to the network to provide expert guidance, enable the business, and solve complex challenges.
  • Build inspired teams ready to maintain world class environmental performance while enabling the business to serve our patients.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Implement global environmental management systems to assure compliance with all country, state, and local regulatory requirements and authorizations.
  • Liaise with regulatory agency representatives, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
  • Integrate with Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams to execute compliance programs, solve complex challenges, and align practices across the network.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and assure robust corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Provide environmental expertise to risk assessments of new and existing systems and processes.
  • Prepare EHS governance dashboards and provide guidance and expertise to functional leadership.
  • Evaluate the impact of changes in the regulatory landscape upon Amgen operations and lead the development of compliance plans and processes.
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of EHSS or Engineering experience OR
  • Associate degree and 10 years of EHSS or Engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of EHSS or Engineering experience OR
  • Master's degree and 6 years of EHSS or Engineering experience OR
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of EHSS or Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Engineering, Scientific or Environmental Management degree in related field and 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry leading EHSS programs.
  • Advanced relevant EHS Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Certified Environmental Professional, Board Certified Environmental Engineer.
  • Demonstrated success in managing Environmental Compliance programs, Environmental due diligence, environmental management systems and Capital Project facility and equipment design.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to integrate programs and processes across business functions.
  • Demonstrated success with maturing programs and processes with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite, Smartsheet, and EHS management system software solutions.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
