Job description

Litigation Legal Assistant

Confidential Opportunity | Atlanta, GA

Salary: $70,000–$85,000

A respected Atlanta litigation firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant who thrives in a high-volume, fast-moving environment. This is an administrative, non-billable position supporting a collaborative team of attorneys and paralegals.

The ideal candidate is organized, tech-savvy, and able to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy. More importantly, this person will have a strong “triage mindset”—the judgment to recognize what is most urgent, prioritize competing assignments, and keep matters moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals in a busy litigation practice
  • Prepare and complete document shells using established templates
  • Assist with court filings and related documentation
  • Track documents and activity between the courts and the firm’s practice management system
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case notes in Clio
  • Prepare, organize, print, and assemble hearing, deposition, and trial binders
  • Handle Rule 5.2 documentation and other litigation-related forms
  • Coordinate FedEx packages, deliveries, and time-sensitive correspondence
  • Proofread documents for grammar, punctuation, formatting, and accuracy
  • Manage multiple assignments while identifying which tasks require immediate attention
  • Document completed work clearly so attorneys, paralegals, and other team members can easily determine a matter’s status

What the Firm Is Looking For

  • 2–5 years of litigation legal assistant experience
  • Experience working in a high-volume law firm environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • The ability to prioritize urgent assignments and adjust quickly when priorities change
  • A sense of urgency and a reputation for getting work completed promptly
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and formatting skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Comfort working with templates and standardized processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the initiative to work through issues independently
  • Technologically proficient; Clio experience is preferred
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and fellow legal assistants

Team Structure

The Atlanta office includes nine attorneys, six paralegals, and three legal assistants. The firm uses a team-based model in which cases are assigned on a round-robin basis, allowing team members to collaborate across matters rather than working in isolated attorney-assistant pairings. Legal assistants report to the paralegal team, with each assistant primarily supporting two paralegals while also assisting attorneys as needed.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join a strong, experienced core group of paralegals with established working relationships
  • Gain direct access to partners and firm leadership
  • Work within a collaborative environment with fewer layers than a large firm
  • Develop your litigation knowledge and professional skills
  • Take advantage of opportunities for continued growth and advancement
  • Become part of a small-to-midsized firm where individual contributions are visible and valued

Qualified candidates will initially meet with the firm’s Senior Legal Assistant to discuss the position, team structure, and expectations. All inquiries will be handled confidentially.
