Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Intern for the Summer of 2026 to become a member of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team. The candidate willbe based at the Colorado Springs Facility. Candidate must use available housing accommodations to qualify.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate and assist the site environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance activities.
  • Monitor hazardous materials usage, storage and disposal.
  • Perform inspections of chemical/gas storage areas, waste storage areas, wastewater treatment facilities, etc.
  • Inspect equipment and review process specifications for compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Devise modifications to new and existing equipment and processes to improve environmental, health and safety conditions.
  • Work with the team on hazard identification, evaluation and control and appropriate risk assessments and mitigation. Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and inspection of EHS equipment.
  • Help conduct compliance evaluations and calculations for numerous Environmental Programs.
  • Assist in the implementation of recycling waste streams.
  • Update Safety Data Sheet database and chemical safety label compliance.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled with two years of college complete with an environmental health & safety, environmental science, environmental engineering, or chemical engineering major.
  • Knowledge of EH&S regulations and PFAS preferred.
  • Well versed in communication skill to work with other organizations
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
