3M is seeking a Sr. Environmental Engineer for the Safety & Industrial Business plant located in Springfield, MO. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.
The Impact You'll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position will be a member of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team and will provide environmental expertise, team projects, the plant using data based tools and methodologies.
This role includes but not limited to: internal and external audits, environmental reporting, and plant specific data analysis. It involves providing support in responding to agency requests, permitting efforts, environmental support to product development teams, and projects on environmental initiatives. This position has responsibilities to ensure compliance.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Reporting to the site EHS manager.
  • Leading and supporting projects that have high impact on business sustainability.
  • Providing guidance, leadership, and consistency to plant level EHS personnel.
  • Providing support in responding to agency requests, permitting efforts, etc.
  • Providing environmental leadership on product development teams, laboratory operations, external industry and customer related engagements.
  • Providing input to EHS requirements.
  • Projects on environmental initiatives.
  • Ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Helps set direction and priorities in EHS for the site.
  • Consistently seeking, sharing, and implementing best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, chemistry, or an environmental technical field from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) or more years of combined experience with environmental compliance and/or environmental reporting in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in an EHS role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in environmental program administration including Title V, NESHAP, NSPS, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), incident investigation, emergency response and risk management.
  • Experience interacting with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with various corporate reporting/compliance and other software tools.
  • Certified in QEP or CHMM from an accredited organization.
  • Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organizational skills.
