Mechanical Design Engineer - Medium Voltage Switchgear
Anderson, SC
Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to support the design and development of customized switchgear and fabricated products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing manufacturing drawings, conducting design reviews, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring timely delivery of accurate engineering documentation in a fast New Product Development (NPD) environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation based on project specifications, tender requirements, and delivery schedules.
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Conduct design reviews in accordance with established Design Control Plans.
  • Coordinate with Design Managers and Project Managers to resolve technical discrepancies and ensure drawing accuracy.
  • Track and communicate BOM changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed within scheduled timelines.
  • Follow up on pending technical inputs and maintain design accuracy without assumptions.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support project execution.
  • Maintain compliance with company HSE policies and quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering process.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Design Engineering role, preferably in switchgear, ETO, MTO, or custom fabrication environments.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, structural components, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and technical drafting standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
