About the Role
Designed for an engineering student approaching graduation, the Transmission Line Engineer role offers the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in high-voltage transmission line engineering. The engineer will support the development, design, construction, and operation of new and existing transmission assets.
Responsibilities
What you will do
  • Support competitive proposals and project development activities involving transmission line engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Support overhead transmission line design and design review in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and guidelines.
  • Learn and use PLS-CADD and related Power Line Systems software to model transmission lines and support design decisions and project cost estimates.
  • Evaluate routing, conductor selection, structure and foundation types, environmental constraints, and construction means and methods.
  • Develop and evaluate engineering solutions that balance cost, safety, reliability, constructability, schedule, and other project requirements.
  • Prepare and review project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Provide technical support for new and existing transmission assets during development, construction, and operations.
  • Support the management of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and coordinate with consultants and contractors.

Qualifications
We want you on our team because you have
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or electrical engineering from an accredited college or university, with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or May 2027.
  • Have coursework in structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, electric-power systems, or other subjects relevant to transmission line engineering.
  • Have an interest in high-voltage transmission line engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Can perform technical analyses, interpret results, and clearly explain and support conclusions.
  • Have strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Can manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively with others.
  • Take initiative to learn unfamiliar technical subjects and address new challenges.

Ideally you also have
  • Internship, co-op, research, or academic project experience involving overhead transmission line design, construction, or operations.
