Environmental Engineer (Early Career)
Knoxville, TN | Full-Time | Office-Based

A well-established environmental consulting firm in Knoxville, Tennessee is seeking an early-career Environmental Engineer to join its growing team.

This position offers the opportunity to build a long-term career in environmental consulting while working directly alongside experienced engineers and project managers supporting industrial and commercial clients. The role provides hands-on exposure to environmental compliance, air permitting, emissions reporting, and multi-media environmental projects across a variety of industries.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem solving, working with data, and developing practical solutions for real-world environmental and regulatory challenges.

What You’ll Do

This role includes exposure to a broad range of environmental compliance and consulting work, with a strong emphasis on technical analysis, air quality, and regulatory support.

Responsibilities may include:

· Assist with environmental compliance projects involving air quality, stormwater, SPCC, wastewater, hazardous waste, and chemical inventory programs

· Support air permitting activities, including emissions calculations, regulatory applicability reviews, and recurring compliance reporting

· Collect, organize, interpret, and analyze operational and environmental data from industrial facilities

· Prepare technical reports, permit applications, calculations, spreadsheets, and regulatory documentation

· Conduct site visits and facility inspections to support environmental evaluations and compliance assessments

· Work closely with senior engineers and project managers on active industrial and manufacturing projects

· Assist in developing corrective actions and practical compliance solutions for clients

What’s Required

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field

· 1–5 years of relevant experience preferred (internships considered)

· E.I.T./E.I. certification is a plus

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required

· Ability to work with technical data, calculations, and reporting

· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

· Self-motivated with interest in long-term professional growth within environmental consulting

· Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to client sites as needed
