Job description

Electrical Engineers will work in the Omaha Design Center on an array of functions to include but not limited to the designing of electrical systems within an industrial plant, designing schematics for systems and equipment, performing quality checks and audits on existing electrical systems and equipment, working withprocurementin establishing specifications for acceptable electrical equipment and reviewing vendor documentation.  

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a 4 year ABET accredited college.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as an electrical engineer for Power and/or Industrial Projects.
  • Effective Communication Skills (Verbal and Written) 
  • Strong desire to learn  
  • Good Judgment and Decision Making 
  • Attention to Detail 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Access or similar programs 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam 
  • Internship in Power and / or Industrial engineering design.

  • Expected to work in a collaborative team environment on projects involving new design, modifications, retrofits, or preliminary/conceptual designs related to utility scale and industrial electrical power distribution systems under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Group Manager. 
  • Assigned project specific tasks related to electrical power distribution systems under the direction of a senior engineer. 
  • Typical duties include writing electrical equipment and general construction specifications. 
  • Assist designers/drafters in execution of new and revised drawings related to one-line diagrams, motor control schematics and interconnection wiring diagrams. 
  • Compile and review lists associated with electrical equipment and process electrical loads. 
  • Perform voltage drop calculations and select appropriate conductor size using criteria in the National Electrical Code (NEC). 
  • Create and maintain distribution panel schedules. 
  • Design and enter cable routing parameters into a database using project design drawings such as equipment general arrangement plans, cable tray plans, underground (ductbank) and overhead conduit plan drawings and schematic diagrams.
