Job description

Environmental Engineer

The Environmental Engineer will lead a variety of environmental remediation projects for our organization. They work with A-C-T staff and resources from within their group and other A-C-T business groups to ensure the environmental projects meet the requirements of the regulatory agencies, clients, and A-C-T.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

  • Execution of environmental remediation projects involving conventional and innovative technologies for cleanup/removal of hazardous wastes, contaminated soils, and groundwater.
  • Technical management of the site investigation/remediation approach and execution including feasibility analysis/studies.
  • Evaluation of remedial technologies, design and implementation of in-situ and ex-situ remedial approaches.
  • Oversight of operations and maintenance of remediation equipment/installations, remedial system design specification compliance and optimization, facility compliance evaluations, and emissions calculations.
  • Regulatory applicability reviews (review/interpretation of environmental regulations), engaging and directing staff in data collection and analysis, permit preparation, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of the applicable Federal, State and Local requirements within the State of Florida (i.e., Resource Conservation and Recovery Act program, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Petroleum Restoration Program, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, etc.).
  • Oversee project staff and subcontractors.
  • Manage assigned projects for technical adherence, budgetary constraints, and scheduled deliverables.
  • Provide technical expertise to various project teams within the organization.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals through the organizationโ€™s Strategic Development Group.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision, while providing concise and critical updates as necessary.
  • Assist with the development of new business opportunities and expand business with existing clients.
  • Complete other job duties as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, or other relevant discipline)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of environmental consulting and design experience to support projects involving site investigations, remediation, regulatory compliance and environmental permitting for groundwater, soil, soil vapor, air, and regulated waste.
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) registration with relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other applicable environmental modeling software preferred.
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Must be highly motivated, customer focused, a self-starter, a problem solver, must have an energetic personality and be able to work well as a team lead.
  • Experience in serving public and private sector clients including development of technical approach, budget and schedule, monitoring project performance, client and regulatory interaction and delivery of technically superior work products.
  • Must work well both alone and in team settings.
  • Upholds the ethics and values of the company.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Within the first three days of employment, you must complete the I-9 form and provide A-C-T with the acceptable forms of identification.
  • Signing the Nondisclosure and Noncompete Agreement
  • Negative drug screen as directed under company's Drug Free Workplace Policy
  • Eligibility to drive under company's auto insurance policy. Please understand that being a qualified driver under company's auto insurance policy is a condition
