THE POSITION

You will be directly involved in researching, analyzing, and communicating information that protects the health of communities across Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This internship supports the Environmental Public Health Tracking program by helping to manage and analyze important public health data. The role offers hands-on experience with data collection, analysis, and outreach activities. As a Data Intern, you will perform the following duties:

  • Data Preparation: Collect and organize information from multiple sources to support ongoing analyses
  • Quality Review: Check data for errors, remove duplicates, and maintain consistency across datasets
  • Data Analysis: Apply statistical software to explore trends, patterns, and key findings in large datasets
  • Visualization Support: Help create clear and engaging charts, dashboards, and reports for stakeholders
  • Research Assistance: Support literature reviews, manuscript preparation, and other communication efforts
  • Team Collaboration: Work with coworkers and partners on data projects that support public health decisions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time internship starting in July or August 2026. The internship is planned to last 3 months with the possibility of extension.
  • Work hours are flexible. You will work 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • You must be currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program or higher.
  • You must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • You must be a Pennsylvania resident or currently enrolled as a full-time student at a Pennsylvania college or university.
