Pricing Data Analysts are expected to take on special long-term projects aimed at solving key business problems, investigating new opportunities, redesigning existing processes, and enhancing operational processes.
In this role, you will specifically support Bed Bath & Beyond's pricing and promotional optimization and strategy, build algorithms to implement strategy at a large scale, develop econometric/mathematical/statistical models to drive conversion and revenue, explore and analyze various datasets using data manipulation and statistical software programs. You will be expected to keep up with industry standards, doing literature reviews, as well as developing new techniques.
The Pricing Data Analyst will have the opportunity to work with a large array of data (sales, price, customer, website, etc), tools, and technologies (Python, RStudio, BigQuery, Micro Strategy, Excel, etc.)
Job Responsibilities
  • Work with Pricing Analytics leadership to design, prototype, develop and execute econometric models for data driven price optimization techniques.
  • Take initiative, apply critical thinking, and drive creative solutions that add measurable business value.
  • Rapidly learn and understand Bed Bath & Beyond's business, data, and table structure with little direction.
  • Lead and contribute to complex pricing projects with minimal oversight.
  • Build, implement and maintain pricing algorithms on complex datasets.
  • Design, run and monitor price tests to evaluate new hypotheses and new strategic initiatives.
  • Translate complex model results into clear business insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain pricing tools and Python scripts to automate pricing processes.
  • Analyze business data to identify pricing opportunities that drive revenue and profitability.
  • Validate, test, and iterate on models to ensure performance and accuracy.
  • Evaluate alternative strategic approaches and recommend optimal pricing decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, and operations to implement solutions.
  • Communicate insights clearly to senior managers and stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Follow legal policies as directed.

Job Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or U.S. equivalent in Economics, Statistics, Business, Information Systems, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, or related field) and 2+ years of post-collegiate work experience conducting data analysis or PhD in a quantitative field.
  • Experience with SQL to extract and manipulate large datasets.
  • Experience with at least one modeling framework (e.g: SciKit Learn, SAS, R, MATLAB)
  • Knowledge in statistics and mathematical concepts (e.g: hypothesis testing, regression)
  • Experience creating and telling stories from data.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Experience creating and telling stories from data including the use of visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Microstrategy.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite Tools (including Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience in the online retail industry.
  • Experience building, implementing and maintaining pricing algorithms on complex datasets.
  • Experience conducting price tests and utilizing statistical methods to measure the performance of new pricing initiatives.
  • Experience automating analyses and manual processes via SQL and Python scripts.
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining Python scripts to automate manual processes.
  • Experience communicating data analysis findings to executive leadership.

Education
Bachelor's degree (or U.S. equivalent in Economics, Statistics, Business, Information Systems, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, or related field) or PhD in a quantitative field.

This position requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
