Job description

DDC IT Services is seeking a Senior COOP Support professional to join their team.
Responsibilities
  • Use SMP/E to install and maintain IBM Mainframe and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) software for execution in the IBM Mainframe operating environment, which includes z/OS.
  • Locate, read, and evaluate job, system task, and system log output to troubleshoot and resolve system problems and anomalies.
  • Generate and capture dumps, terse the dump dataset, and transfer dumps and related log information to vendors for analysis in problem solving.
  • Work independently, conduct research, document, and deliver findings (written/orally) on IBM mainframe hardware and peripheral equipment and related software/firmware.
  • Plan, create, document, review, and revise documentation for COOP.
  • Serve as technical point of contact (POC) for COOP exercises, including creating and implementing input/output definitions, breaking/starting/stopping data replication processes, restoring OS and ISV software to the COOP box, performing IPL of the COOP environment, and working with other customer and DISA teams to successfully implement the COOP exercise cutovers.
  • Document application and system software integration with IBM mainframe hardware and associated peripheral equipment.
  • Research, document, and deliver (written/orally) impacts and risks associated with changes requested before change implementations are performed.
  • Research, plan, coordinate, document, and implement state-of-the-art technologies, especially those available with or built on the IBM z/OS mainframe platform.
  • Research, plan, document, review, and implement technical and engineering support in the broad range of maintenance and utilization of software with an emphasis on installed IBM z/OS Disaster Recovery.
  • Research, plan, review, document, maintain, and implement software and firmware including system software, utilities, programming languages, compilers, interactive terminal software, and transaction processing software on an IBM z/OS mainframe platform.
  • Provide technical and engineering support in z/OS OS's, hardware, and associated products.
  • Maintain Disaster Recovery Replication (DASD). Identify inconsistencies, errors, replication issues. Document and present recommended corrective actions.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and COOP exercises.
  • Document and perform IPLs, work with personnel located at each site to create, load, implement, and activate HCDs in support of disaster recovery exercises. Document and perform all system cleanup activities required post-exercise.
  • Assist in the planning and management of DASD resources and usage for DISA Mainframes and its customer requirements.
  • Develop, create, plan, and document processes and procedures for planning and executing COOP, including ensuring there are no dropped or missing DASD or virtual tape volumes in the COOP environment.
  • Support DISA IBM z/OS ACE (Assured Computing Environment) initiatives by ensuring data movement, data replication, and running of system monitors and jobs to confirm replication status.
  • Use IBM z/OS and TSO/ISPF to access the IBM z/OS mainframe system.
  • Perform IPLs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • IAT Level 1 Certification - must possess one of the following:
    • A+ CE
    • CCNA Security
    • Network+ CE
    • SSCP
  • Clearance Required: Secret, IT-I
