Scope of Work:ย
The Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Mechanic installs, services, and repairs environmental-control systemsย utilizingย the knowledge of refrigeration theory.ย
Responsibilities:ย
- Installs, services, and repairs environmental-control systems,ย utilizingย knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layouts.
- Performs a variety of trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Performs startup, turnover, and shutdown procedures of environmental control systems.
- Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
- Installs water and air filters inย competedย installations
- Injectsย refrigerant into compressor to test systems.
- Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation
- Assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts usingย appropriate toolsย and welding equipment
- Cuts and bends tubing, cuts and threads pipes, joins tubing and pipes to machinery.
- Replaces or repairs defective breaker controls, generators, transformers, controllers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, air conditioning ducting, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
- Utilizesย electrician'sย hand tools and test equipment.
- Tests for leaks andย observesย pressure and vacuum gauges andย adjustsย controls to ensure proper operations.
- Supports generator readiness and emergency power compliance, including documentation of inspections, maintenance actions, and operational status.ย
- Workย from blueprints, drawings, layout, or other specificationsย toย locateย andย troubleshootย the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
- Conduct Real Property Inventory.ย ย
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.ย
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Three (3)ย years related experience. Experience with commercial and industrial systems is preferred.
- EPA Section 608 certification is mandatory. Additional certifications (e.g., NATE) are highly valued.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings,ย schematicsย and diagrams as they pertain to the craft.ย ย
- Understanding ofsafety procedures and ability to work in compliance with OSHA and workplace safety regulations.
- Mustย hold andย maintainย a Tier 3 (Secret Clearance) or Tierย 5ย background checkย (Top Secret / SCI Clearance),ย asย requiredย for the position.ย
- Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.ย ย
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
