Job description

Position Summary

The Environment Service Worker is part of the surgical team and assists in providing efficient, quality care to all patients in the perioperative environment. Performs a variety of environmental cleaning tasks to maintain patient care areas, including OR rooms, holding area, hallways, center core, sub sterile rooms, offices, locker rooms, kitchen and call room. Employees are responsible for the safe use of mechanical floor cleaners, vacuums and ladders. Responsibilities include assembly of various tables and surgical positioning equipment and devices, moving furniture, surgical equipment and other heavy equipment as needed. The role includes daily preparation of OR rooms for new patients and terminal cleaning of each operating room.  Responsible for providing safe and efficient transport for assigned patients throughout the hospital following the protocols established by the hospital and its departments.

Primary Position Responsibilities

1. Appropriate floor care is completed

2. All soiled linen and trash are picked up routinely from assigned areas. Appropriate PPE is worn at all times.

3. Collects municipal, recyclables, universal, and hazardous wastes from assigned areas daily or as needed, places in appropriate location, within local, state, and federal guidelines.

4. Sweeps, mops, vacuums floors; washes walls, mirrors, ceilings, and windows, dusts furniture, moves items as necessary.

5. Clean OR rooms as per standards both between cases and terminal cleaning.

6. Maintain and Stock surgical attire in male and female locker rooms

7. All other tasks as assigned.
