What We Are Looking For
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, College of Arts & Sciences, is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator who will support day-to-day introductory and general teaching labs in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time-management skills, be detail-oriented, and be educated & trained in general Chemistry skills. The candidate must be a self-starter and work well in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
A bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience is required. A bachelor's degree and five years of experience is preferred.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
  • Provide support to teaching assistants regarding supplies, equipment, experiments, and safety
  • Set up and maintain on-line learning management system
  • Coordinate scheduled laboratory experiments supporting fall and spring semesters, and summer sessions for CHE 1100 (Introductory Chemistry), 1101 (General Chemistry I), 1102 (General Chemistry II), 1146 (Introductory Bio-Organic Chemistry), and 1405 (Chemistry & Society), as required
  • Supervise the calculation and preparation of solutions and reagents
  • Maintain and inventory chemicals required for labs
  • Order chemicals and supplies as required
  • Supervise lab safety & cleanliness
  • Maintain and supervise use of shared-use equipment and instrumentation
  • In cooperation with Environmental Health & Safety, oversee the use and safe disposal of hazardous materials
  • Under the direction of Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty, develop and perfect new laboratory exercises
  • Assist in developing annual budget requests for equipment and supplies
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
