Job description

AMVAC has an opportunity for a Production Planner to join their Planning Department in Axis, Alabama and support the Production Team and their scheduling efforts. AMVAC, an American Vanguard Corporation is a diversified agricultural and specialty products company focusing on crop protection, turf and ornamental markets, and public health applications.

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing production schedules in a manufacturing plant environment to meet customer demand, inventory targets, and operational capacity. This role coordinates closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality, Supply Chain, and Logistics to support timely material availability, efficient resource utilization, and continuity plant production while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

AMVAC’s Axis facility is the flagship manufacturing plant in North American. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to produce products for our global customers. At AMVAC, we hone our talent, strategy and seasoned experience to better serve the expanding needs of a modern world. This position is on-site - Monday thru Friday. 


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand, sales forecasts, and plant capacity assumptions
  • Utilize MRP / ERP systems to plan material requirements, production orders, and inventory levels
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain and Procurement to align material availability with production plans and identify potential downtime risks
  • Communicate production plans, changes, and identified constraints to relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor production schedules and recommend adjustments based on equipment availability, labor constraints, supply disruptions, or demand changes
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to analyze material shortages, escalate risks, and support prioritization of critical items
  • Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of production variances
  • Perform planning activities in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards


Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of previous planning, scheduling, or manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment strongly preferred
  • Prior experience coordinating materials, inventory, or production schedules
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, experience with other MS Office tools required
  • Working knowledge of MRP / ERP planning systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to pass a physical and drug test
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment criminal background check



Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework or degree preferred.
