Job description

The Arc of Greater Prince William/INSIGHT, Inc, a respected non-profit provider of residential, recreation, and day services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), is seeking a Program Assistant. This position is located at our SPINAWEB specialty weaving shop nestled in the quaint craft community of Occoquan, Virginia. SPINAWEB is part of The Arc's adult vocational program and is a living symbol of the dignity and worth that citizens with developmental disabilities bring to our nation. The position is full-time, 30 hours/week regular work schedule Monday - Friday 9am - 3pm. Additional coverage when needed and some weekend coverage for special events (one or two times per year). Hourly rate starting at $17.00 per hour and we offer EXCELLENT benefits including zero out of pocket cost for medical insurance for full-time employees!
Job Duties: Under the direction of the Spinaweb Program Coordinator, the Program Assistant will participate in the daily operations of Spinaweb. This will include but not be limited to:

  • Opening and closing the building as needed
  • Assisting the Weavers in their Daily Schedule
  • Administer Medication when necessary
  • Supervise the Individuals in the Program
  • Accompany Individuals on Community activities
  • Set up looms and assist in the weaving projects
  • Train Weavers on new skills
  • Assist with quality control on all projects
  • Complete Daily Log reports and documentation of any incidents
  • Log in production hours for Individuals as requested
  • Log attendance hours for Individuals as requested
  • Provide input for Individual's Program goals
  • Assist Customers in the "shop"
  • Complete order forms and process sales in the Retail shop
  • Make recommendations for weaving projects and community activities
  • Attend all training as required
  • Provide a Safe and clean environment
  • Assist in keeping the building clean
  • Provide Staff hours as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for Direct Support/Care Professionals: experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred. Written, communication and computer skills required. Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration (MAT), Medicaid Waiver, Human Rights, OSHA and Van Training. Criminal and Child Protective Services Background investigations conducted for all employees; must meet state of Virginia employment eligibility requirements. A valid Virginia Driver/s license, a licensed U.S. driver with a minimum if THREEE (3) years driving experience in the United States. Driving record must meet agency's vehicle insurance carrier requirements, the ability to attend and pass onsite training classes within the first 30 days of hire.
