S-E-A is a forensic engineering firm with over 50 years of experience serving as a neutral, third party subject expert, analyzing technical failures. Our engineers reverse engineer and look for the "why" when things fail.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial properties
  • Determine of the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing
  • Assignments may include structural assessments, site evaluations, vibration analysis, construction site accidents and building egress accident evaluations
  • Analyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
  • Responsible for retention and development of client relations
  • Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
  • Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required, Master's degree a plus
  • Three to five years of civil/structural experience
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing or ability to obtainwithin six months
  • Must possess strong writing skills
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
