Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Paragon Leasing, LP exclusively services heavy-duty commercial trucks for Stevens Transport, Inc. at their Dallas, Texas terminal, and is hiring an Fleet Equipment Inspector which is an entry-level fleet maintenance role to start their diesel mechanic career. This role conducts initial inspections of all tractor and trailer units as they enter the yard and all final inspections before they leave.

No previous experience with repair or preventative maintenance is required, although some mechanical knowledge weighs into hiring decision.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Responsibilities

  • Greeting drivers on the yard in a timely, friendly manner
  • Performing multi-point walk around inspections of all units
  • Verifying vehicle identification and recording mileage
  • Assessing exterior damage and defects, including condition of tires, frame, and mechanical components
  • Checking oil and coolant levels, air filter restriction and tire pressure
  • Data entry
  • Ensuring full compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms
  • Experience working on brakes
  • Valid Class C driver's license
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to clearly read, write and speak English
  • Basic math calculations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Attending or attended Technical School with focus on Diesel Technology

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Climbing ladders, stairs, and platforms
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
