Job Summary

  • The Corporate Engineering R&D Engineer is a key resource in the Material and Product Development Processes to support business growth. The person shall lead external testing and certification projects. The individual will also provide internal laboratory testing service to the Engineering and Marketing Teams; Sales Teams/Customers; Global Sourcing Team and Manufacturing Facilities.
  • Responsible for the design, development, alteration or modification of a particular line or type of product. Evaluates and reports on new devices, patents, or competitive items. Has latitude for independent and original action and decision plus some administrative and executive ability.

Summary of essential Job Functions:

  • Liaise and Co-ordinate work with External Test Facilities, Standard and Certification Agencies 
  • Lead RD developmental projects
  • Use A3 process for tracking project process
  • Qualification process and technical report writing
  • Work hands on with composite processes
  • Provide Testing Support to the Development Engineers on Project Validation, IQ/OQ/PQ.
  • Provide Support to Sales and Marketing Teams on Bench-Marking and Reverse Engineering.
  • Provide Testing Support to Global Business Team on Materials Qualification.
  • Provide Testing Support to Facilities' ongoing Material Test Plans.
  • Maintain and Update Test Logs and Prepare Test Reports
  • Maintain Internal Testing Facility
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of product and material standards relating to the company's market development plans and growth model
  • Validate alternative raw materials
  • Specify the incoming inspection requirements for raw materials.
  • Develop new resin formulation 
  • Adjust and update Engineering master.
  • Train the process engineers, technicians and quality about new process or test methods.
  • Audit process 
  • Update and create new documentation SOP /TGI / FMEA/ 
  • Document and implement test procedures from internal and external facilities.
  • Document and research about new or existing laboratory test equipment protocols.
  • Sourcing of specific materials and equipment for projects or new developments. 

Other Duties as Needed:

  • Assist Development Engineers to help facilitate project completion.

Requirements

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Degree in Engineering with certificate
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.  
  • Requires comprehensive technical ability and experience in a broad engineering field,
  • 2 to 3 years of work experience with laboratory material testing / manufacturing environment
  • Product design and development, customer and compliance agency liaison experience a plus
  • Plastic and/or composites processing experience a plus.
  • Machine shop experience a plus
  • CAD/CAM experience a plus
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization 
  • Strong information systems skills including the use of business systems and Microsoft Office software
  • Strong problem solving skills with people, processes and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and provide product training to sales and service, marketing team a plus
