Job description

Title: R&D Engineer
Responsible Manager: Team Manager Metals - R&D
Location: Pflugerville, Texas

We, EOS - world market leader for industrial 3D printing, are looking for you to support our R&D Metals Team as an R&D Engineer. In this role, you will develop and optimize laser-based processes for metallic materials using modeling, simulation, and experimental testing. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, manage project tasks, and translate solutions into minimum viable products while documenting and presenting results to drive process improvements.

Your Mission

Develop process fundamentals and process products for and with our laser systems in the metal sector
Apply modeling and simulation tools and develop custom scripts to support process modeling, data analysis, and advanced parameter development.
Your responsibilities will include independently planning and reliably conducting process tests to determine parameters and optimize processes and properties of various metallic materials using the latest laser-based technologies.
Transfer of solutions and ideas into so-called minimum viable products (MVP) in order to verify customer benefits
You will take on the management of project tasks/work packages and work in interdisciplinary development teams, e.g., in close cooperation with process, system, and software development
The documentation and presentation of your test results, including interdisciplinary interpretation with a view to potential improvements, will form an essential part of your tasks

Your Talents

Completed university degree in materials science, physics, metallurgy, process engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field of study
Practical experience with engineering software tools (e.g., CFD, FEA) and programming skills (e.g., Python). Experience with machine learning models and API programming is a plus.
R&D mindset with the will to learn, develop and improve work practices and tools
Experience and knowledge in the field of digital manufacturing processes or additive
manufacturing technologies
Self-organization skills and an analytical and goal-oriented approach to work
Strong communication skills and a confident and service-oriented manner, both internally and toward customers
