Job description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Oil & Gas
Location: Midland, TX 79706

Duration: 8 Months (possible extension)

Pay Rate: $16.50 – $21.00/hour on W2 (based on experience)

Work Schedule

  • Shift Duration: 12 hours
  • Rotation: 7 days on / 2 days off, then 7 days on / 4 days off
  • Shift Type: Day & Night rotation required

Job Overview

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable product and service delivery (PSD). This role involves performing quality assurance testing, supporting fluid design and additive selection, and ensuring all lab operations meet required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance testing on products
  • Prepare laboratory reports prior to wellsite service delivery
  • Provide technical support for additive selection and fluid design
  • Ensure all deliverables are accurate and completed on time
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in clean and working condition
  • Dispose of waste according to safety standards
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with operational standards
  • Support technical teams with analysis and troubleshooting
  • Perform risk assessments before tasks to ensure safety and quality
  • Participate in service quality meetings and improvement initiatives
  • Follow all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and wear required PPE
  • Maintain up-to-date safety training
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders

Top Required Skills

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (day & night rotation)
  • Experience in a chemical laboratory environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Experience Requirements

  • Open to entry-level (trainee) and experienced lab technicians

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Associate Degree
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree (Science/Technical field)

Training Requirement

  • Must be willing to complete NEST Training
