Position Summary

The Foreman Apprentice I position is an entry-level leadership development role designed to prepare individuals for future Foreman responsibilities. Working alongside an experienced Training Foreman, apprentices gain hands-on experience in the inspection, maintenance, and restoration of utility infrastructure while developing the technical, operational, and leadership skills necessary for career advancement. This position is performed exclusively on a designated training crew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the assessment, maintenance, and restoration of utility infrastructure.
  • Learn and apply industry best practices, safety procedures, and operational standards in the field.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe and working condition.
  • Meet established safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
  • Complete assigned online and field-based training programs.
  • Support crew operations while developing leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Represent Osmose professionally when interacting with customers and community members.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to motivate and work effectively with field crews.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for the safe operation and maintenance of company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to represent the company in a positive and professional manner.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including regularly lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as business needs require.

Compensation and Benefits

Osmose is proud to offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:

  • Paid on-the-job training at $23.00 per hour.
  • $25 daily tax-free per diem for qualifying travel assignments (employees must work 60+ miles from home and a minimum of 40 hours per week to qualify).

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Possess the mobility and physical capability necessary to safely perform all essential job functions.

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed outdoors and may involve exposure to:

  • Inclement weather, including heat, humidity, cold temperatures, and freezing conditions.
  • Poisonous plants, insects, allergens, and other environmental hazards.
  • Preservatives and coatings used in utility maintenance operations.
  • Energized electrical equipment requiring adherence to established safety procedures.
  • Moderate noise levels with occasional exposure to loud environments exceeding 85 decibels.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel is expected to exceed 80% and may vary based on customer needs and project locations.
  • Frequent overnight travel, Monday through Friday throughout one or more states may be required.
  • Extended workweeks and additional hours may be necessary during peak seasons or special projects.
  • Consistent attendance and availability, including occasional weekend work, are required.
