Job description

Job Description:
The Warehouse Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for employees and visitors across the campus. This role supports operational efficiency by ensuring workspaces, equipment, and common areas are free of debris and hazards. The position contributes to overall facility upkeep by performing routine cleaning tasks and minor preventative maintenance. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Primary Duties
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping floors, removing trash, and clearing debris from interior and exterior areas.
  • Clean surfaces including windows, doors, walls, ceilings, and shelving, ensuring removal of dust, dirt, and spider webs.
  • Operate cleaning equipment to maintain floors and facility spaces in a clean and safe condition.
  • Conduct light preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Remove debris using tools such as blowers and perform washing of surfaces using high-pressure water systems.
  • Access elevated areas using appropriate equipment to clean walls, ceilings, and hard-to-reach spaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness in high-traffic areas and throughout the campus grounds.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while performing assigned duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent preferred; entry-level position with 0+ years of related experience; must be at least 18 years of age, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime.

Essential Mental and Physical Functions:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 95 percent of the workday.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach for short periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move cleaning equipment and materials as needed.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights using appropriate access equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks requiring physical endurance.

Work Environment:
  • Perform all tasks on-site within a manufacturing and campus environment.
  • Exposure to varying and extreme temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes.
  • Work in areas with moving mechanical equipment and frequent vehicle traffic.
  • Exposure to high noise levels and industrial conditions.
  • Compliance with all safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and eye protection.
  • This role is classified as a Safety Sensitive Position, requiring heightened awareness and adherence to all safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a secure work environment.
