Job description

     Position Overview

    This position is an entry-level Coordinator on the CJ Logistics America Freight Forwarding team, based at the Clarksville, Tennessee site, supporting the day-to-day operations of ocean and air import/export shipments. The Coordinator handles booking, preparation and processing of shipping documentation, shipment tracking, and communication with overseas partners and customers, while supporting accurate and timely service and compliance with U.S. and international customs and trade regulations. Leveraging Korean–English bilingual skills, the Coordinator serves as a communication bridge between the Korea headquarters / overseas offices and U.S. local operations. This is an entry-level role offering the opportunity to learn and grow across all areas of freight forwarding operations.

    Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

    Communication

    • Communicate in Korean and English with the Korea headquarters and overseas partner offices, carriers/airlines, customs brokers, trucking companies, and customers, conveying shipment-related information accurately.

    • Share operational notices such as Arrival Notices and Delivery Orders in a timely manner, and update customers and internal teams on shipment status.

    Operations / Technical

    • Arrange bookings for ocean and air import/export shipments with carriers, airlines, and co-loaders.

    • Enter shipment information accurately into the freight forwarding system (e.g., CargoWise) and internal systems, and update milestones.

    • Track and trace shipment location and immediately report any delays or exceptions.

    Documentation / Administrative

    • Prepare, review, and process shipping documents including Bills of Lading (B/L), Air Waybills (AWB), Commercial Invoices, and Packing Lists.

    • Support timely preparation and submission of U.S. Customs filings such as ISF (10+2), AMS, and AES.

    • Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure documentation required for import/export clearance is accurate and complete.

    • Support preparation of invoicing and cost reconciliation materials, and accurately organize and maintain related files and records.

    Compliance / Other

    • Comply with U.S. and international import/export regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    • Model and act in accordance with CJ's guiding principles and core values.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or higher; associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, international trade, business, or a related field preferred.

    • 0–2 years of experience in freight forwarding / logistics (entry-level applicants welcome).

    • Korean–English bilingual required — reading, writing, and speaking proficiency sufficient to perform the job.

    • Basic proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and time management skills.

    • Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

    • Authorized to work in the United States

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in logistics / supply chain management (SCM) / international trade / business.

    • Experience using freight forwarding / TMS systems such as CargoWise.

    • Basic knowledge of Incoterms, HS Codes, and U.S. Customs (CBP) regulations.

    • Basic understanding of U.S. customs and international trade (customs valuation, classification, compliance/audit, trade programs, etc.).

    • Internship or related hands-on experience in freight forwarding / logistics.

    • Awareness of or training in dangerous goods (DG) / HAZMAT Class 9 (e.g., battery cargo).

    • Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography.

    Physical Requirements

    Warehouse Role

    This position requires the physical ability to:

    • Stand and/or walk for extended periods (up to X hours, depending on shift)

    • Sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed

    • Climb stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds at various heights including ground-level and racking zones (occasionally/frequently)

    • Reach with hands and arms overhead and below waist level

    • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

    • Occasionally lift heavier items with or without assistance

    • Use fine motor skills/manual dexterity to operate equipment, tools, or keyboards

    • Frequently use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, or control objects

    • See clearly at close range and at distance, with peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

    • Hear and understand verbal instructions, alarms, and equipment signals in a noisy environment
