About:
This entry level paralegal position will work with and be trained by one of the firm's lead trial lawyers and its litigation paralegals. Responsibilities will include working on the preparation of personal injury and product liability cases for discovery and trial, the recruiting and conducting of focus groups and supporting trial lawyers in trials across the country. The position is fast-paced, reports in person to the Stamford, CT office with opportunity for travel and overtime. This is an incredible opportunity for an energetic and talented recent college graduate who is interested in a fast-paced legal job and attending law school in the future.
Responsibilities:
  • Case evaluation: assist in reviewing and evaluating cases, developing and cataloging industry safety rules, medical literature and medical records
  • Case and team management: tracking the workflow of litigation and trial cases in an electronic case management system, managing and meeting deadlines for discovery, tracking projects and creating accountability across cases for paralegals and attorneys
  • Legal drafting and filings: assist in drafting, filing and serving legal correspondence, pleadings and discovery in federal and state courts.
  • Trial preparation: Learn how to manage all aspects of trial preparation including organizing and maintaining case files and trial materials including deposition summaries, deposition designations, marshalling and tracking of deposition and trial exhibits and tangible evidence, organizing courtroom technology and blow-ups, coordinating witness travel and preparation.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: Learn Visual Strategy and high functioning use of PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator, and develop a deep understanding and demonstrated interest in preparation of summary exhibits, demonstratives, focus group presentations, deposition demonstratives, and openings/closings at trial.
  • Expert Witness preparation: Assist with screening and retaining expert witnesses on mechanism of injury, causation and damages among other areas, and tracking discovery materials for experts.
  • Focus Group Administration: organizing and recruiting for remote and in-person focus groups using the Chaffin Luhana process, tracking feedback and responses, and managing participants.
  • Administrative duties: performing administrative tasks and offering general assistance to trial lawyers from grabbing fresh dry cleaning for trials to ensuring that the trial team is fueled and hydrated.

Qualifications:
  • This position is based in Stamford, CT and in person. The candidate must be able to drive with a clean driving record, and also be able to travel for trials and trial prep for extended periods. The position can be demanding when trials are approaching and during trials, requiring working during evening hours and on weekends.
  • Recent college graduates with a proven record of drive and success are strongly encouraged to apply. Paralegal certificate is a plus but not required. Demonstrated past work experience in an office setting a plus. Confident, communicative style with a high growth mindset are a must. We can train you, but you have to be willing to put in the time. This position is perfect for someone considering law school or has a strong interest in becoming a trial lawyer.
