Job description

This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Social media specialists are entry-level, individual contributors to the Missionary Training Center social media accounts by creating engaging, mission-aligned content, and assisting with moderation and performance evaluation. Ideal for college students interested in social media, communications, marketing, or digital storytelling who want real-world experience in content creation, analytics, and working within a structured approval environment. Reports to Curriculum Manager.

This is an on-site (Provo Missionary Training Center), 1 year fixed-term part-time position working up to 20 hours per week. Student-friendly schedule offers some flexibility around classes.

Required 

  • Experience managing at least one social media account 

  • Basic skills in video editing and photography 

  • Familiarity with Meta platforms and basic analytics 

  • Ability to learn new platforms for content editing and project management 

  • Strong written and verbal professional communication skills 

  • Ability to manage projects and deadlines 

  • Ability to follow brand, content, approval guidelines, defined processes, and receive direction 

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to collaborate virtually, give and receive feedback, and work effectively amid change, ambiguity, and pressure 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 

  • Maintain current temple recommend 

  • Ability to meet basic physical requirements including prolonged sitting and computer use as well as filming missionaries 

Preferred 

  • Missionary service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  

  • Coursework or interest in communications, marketing, advertising, media, design, or related fields  

  • Experience with Adobe tools 

  • Experience serving as a social media manager or leader for a club, organization, or cause 

  • Experience creating short-form content
