Summary
The Diamond/Core Driller Assistant supports drilling operations by assisting the Lead Driller with equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and site activities. This role requires physical endurance, attention to safety, and the ability to work in remote outdoor environments. The assistant plays a key role in ensuring efficient and safe core drilling operations.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with setup, operation, and teardown of diamond/core drilling rigs
  • Handle drill rods, tooling, and core barrels during drilling operations
  • Retrieve, label, and store core samples accurately
  • Mix and manage drilling fluids and maintain circulation systems
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on drilling equipment
  • Keep the worksite clean, organized, and hazard-free
  • Load and unload equipment, supplies, and materials
  • Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations
  • Support site preparation tasks such as clearing and leveling drill locations
  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Driller and crew

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in drilling, construction, mining, or similar field is a plus
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor (lifting 50+ lbs)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand/power tools
  • Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work long hours in outdoor and remote conditions
  • Valid driver's license preferred (CDL a plus)
  • Safety certifications (First Aid/CPR, OSHA/MSHA, H2S) are advantageous
