Your Role as a Senior UX Designer:

The Senior UX Designer is responsible for designing intuitive, high-impact user experiences across DonorPerfect's fundraising and nonprofit CRM platform. This role partners closely with Product Management and Engineering to translate complex workflows into simple, effective interfaces, enabling nonprofit professionals to manage donors, campaigns, and reporting with greater speed, clarity, and confidence. The Senior UX Designer combines research, interaction design, and visual design to shape product strategy, influence roadmap decisions, and deliver measurable improvements in usability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Experience Design

  • Design end-to-end user experiences across core product workflows so that nonprofit staff can efficiently manage fundraising, donor relationships, reporting, and campaigns.
  • Translate complex product requirements into intuitive user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs so that engineering teams can build consistent, high-quality experiences.
  • Simplify complex data-heavy interfaces so that users can quickly interpret insights and make informed fundraising decisions.
  • Use AI-assisted design and prototyping tools to rapidly explore multiple solution directions, generate design variations, simulate user flows, and accelerate the path from concept to validated prototype.

User Research & Insight

  • Plan and conduct user research (interviews, usability testing, surveys, analytics review) so that product decisions are grounded in validated user needs.
  • Synthesize research insights into actionable design opportunities so that product teams prioritize solutions that improve usability and business outcomes.
  • Use AI tools responsibly to support research synthesis, theme identification, competitive analysis, interview preparation, and usability-test analysis while preserving human judgment, user empathy, and data privacy.
  • Partner with Product Managers to define success metrics and evaluate design effectiveness so that shipped experiences measurably improve adoption and satisfaction.

Product Discovery & Strategy

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and Product Owners during discovery to explore multiple solution concepts so that the team identifies the highest-impact design direction.
  • Use rapid prototyping, including AI-assisted prototyping where appropriate, to reduce ambiguity, test assumptions earlier, and improve confidence in product decisions.
  • Facilitate design workshops, journey mapping, and concept testing so that cross-functional teams align on user problems and solution approaches.
  • Contribute UX insights to product roadmap discussions so that design perspectives influence strategic product decisions.

Design Systems & Consistency

  • Contribute to and evolve the DonorPerfect design system so that product experiences remain visually consistent, accessible, and scalable across the platform.
  • Define reusable interaction patterns and UI components so that product teams can build faster and maintain a cohesive product experience.
  • Use AI-assisted design workflows to explore component variations, interaction states, content patterns, and edge cases while ensuring final design decisions adhere to DonorPerfect's design standards and accessibility requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with engineers during implementation so that designs are translated accurately and efficiently into production.
  • Present design rationale and research insights to stakeholders so that decisions are informed by user needs and product goals.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to design best practices so that the design team continuously improves its craft and impact.

Key Requirements:

  • Expertise in user-centered design principles, interaction design, and information architecture
  • Strong ability to translate complex SaaS, CRM, reporting, data-entry, automation, or data-heavy workflows.
  • Skilled in conducting user research and synthesizing insights into actionable design improvements
  • Ability to rapidly explore multiple design directions and use prototypes to make product decisions faster.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills to explain design decisions to stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Managers and Engineers in agile environments
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working with design systems and scalable UI frameworks
  • Ability to balance usability, accessibility, technical feasibility, business goals, and speed of execution
  • Sound judgment in the responsible use of AI tools, including awareness of privacy, accuracy, bias, accessibility, and when human review is required.

Education and Experience:

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in UX Design, Product Design, or Interaction Design for SaaS, B2B, enterprise, or digital products.
  • Proven experience designing complex web applications, data-driven software platforms, CRM systems, workflow tools, or similarly complex product experiences.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX design work from research and discovery through prototyping, implementation, and measurable product outcomes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using modern UX design and prototyping tools, including Figma or Sketch, with experience leveraging AI-assisted capabilities such as Figma AI/Figma Make, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable, v0, Midjourney, or comparable technologies to accelerate design workflows.
  • Experience creating interactive prototypes using tools such as Figma Make, Lovable, Claude Code, or similar solutions to validate concepts, communicate complex interactions, and align Product, Engineering, and stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing using platforms such as Grain or comparable tools, and translating findings into actionable design improvements.
  • Experience using product analytics platforms such as Fullstory, Segment, Amazon QuickSight, or similar tools to inform design decisions and measure product outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional product development teams using collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, FigJam, Miro, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG).

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience designing enterprise, CRM, nonprofit, fundraising, reporting, analytics, or workflow-heavy platforms.
  • Experience designing products used by nonprofit organizations or fundraising professionals.
  • Experience using product analytics and experimentation to inform design decisions.
  • Experience designing AI-assisted, automation-driven, recommendation-based, or conversational product experiences.
  • Experience designing for trust, transparency, user control, and human-in-the-loop workflows when AI or automation is involved.
  • Ability to contribute lightweight front-end prototypes or collaborate closely with engineers using AI-assisted development environments such as Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable, or similar platforms.
