Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney

Direct Counsel is representing a reputable Defense Workers’ Compensation law firm seeking an Attorney to join its growing team. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or in-office in Sacramento or Roseville, depending on the candidate’s preference. The firm provides a collaborative environment with exceptional training, mentorship, and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in workers’ compensation proceedings, including hearings, depositions, and mediations.

  • Conduct legal research, analyze complex issues, and draft persuasive pleadings, motions, and settlement documents.

  • Negotiate settlements and advocate effectively on behalf of clients.

  • Manage cases efficiently, ensuring adherence to firm policies and deadlines.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients at all organizational levels to achieve favorable outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, adjusters, and opposing counsel.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

  • 2+ years of Workers Comp Defense experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and craft strategic solutions.

  • Proactive, client-focused, and technologically proficient.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer.

  • Dexterity to operate office equipment such as a keyboard and phone.

  • Ability to read printed and digital materials, communicate effectively in person and by phone, and travel to court as needed.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds.

  • Salary range: $100,000 – $220,000 annually
